AMC’s working with Independent fee contractors are not W2 employers, and neither would a Bank when directly working with the appraiser. It is a contractual relationship-period. Why appraisers are not treated independently like Brokers, Attorneys, and RE Sales people is beyond logic. But then, Big Corporate controls the Appraisers.
Thanks, Tom! Dustin’s sentiments exactly. We should be treated as independent contractors. However, California saw the independent contract as a rich source of tax revenues, to went after us. In any event this will hit the AMCs and lenders harder than it will hit us. Thanks for commenting!
